Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 26, 2026. This policy describes how PackVault handles information when you browse, upload, subscribe, or otherwise use our services.

Who we are

PackVault ("we", "us", "our") operates a community platform for discovering, uploading, and downloading Minecraft texture packs for Java and Bedrock editions.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices available to you when you use packvault.com and related services (collectively, the "Service").

Information we collect

Account information: When you sign in with Discord OAuth, we receive your Discord user ID, username, global display name, avatar URL, and email address when Discord makes it available. We use this information to create and maintain your PackVault account and public creator profile.

Profile and creator data: You may optionally provide a bio, banner, profile styling (if unlocked by role), social links, and other profile fields visible on your public profile page.

Uploads and pack content: When you upload texture packs, we store pack files, thumbnails, banners, screenshots, titles, descriptions, tags, categories, version metadata, and download statistics. Approved packs may be publicly accessible to all visitors.

Community activity: We store comments, reviews, likes, bookmarks, follows, notifications, and moderation records associated with your account.

Security and technical logs: We log session identifiers, hashed or truncated IP addresses, user agent strings, request metadata, rate-limit counters, VPN/proxy detection results (when enabled), and audit events for abuse prevention, fraud detection, and platform security.

Payment information: If you subscribe to Packs+, payment processing is handled by our payment provider (e.g. Stripe). We do not store full card numbers on our servers; we may retain subscription status, billing identifiers, and transaction references.

Advertising data: When ads are displayed, third-party ad providers may collect device identifiers, cookie data, and interaction signals subject to their own policies. Packs+ members may receive an ad-free experience when that perk is active.

Discord OAuth and server membership

PackVault uses Discord as an authentication provider. By signing in, you authorize us to receive the OAuth scopes requested during login (typically identity and email).

If enabled by site settings, we may invite you to join the official PackVault Discord server or verify membership for certain features. Discord's privacy policy governs data processed by Discord during authentication.

We do not receive your Discord password. You can revoke PackVault's access from your Discord account settings at any time, though this may limit your ability to use authenticated features.

AI-generated descriptions

PackVault may offer an optional AI description writer that sends a short prompt and pack metadata you provide to a third-party AI service to generate suggested listing text.

AI requests are subject to role-based access controls, per-user cooldowns, and global rate limits. Prompts and generated output may be logged for abuse prevention and service improvement.

AI-generated text is a suggestion only. You are responsible for reviewing, editing, and publishing accurate descriptions. Do not include personal information in AI prompts that you do not want processed by our AI provider.

Cookies and similar technologies

Essential cookies: We use session cookies and CSRF tokens required for authentication, security, and core site functionality. These cannot be disabled while using signed-in features.

Preference cookies: We may store UI preferences such as theme or dismissed notices in local storage or cookies.

Analytics cookies: If enabled, we may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns. You can block non-essential cookies in your browser.

Advertising cookies: When ad providers are active, they may set cookies or use similar technologies to deliver and measure ads. Packs+ subscribers with ad removal enabled should see fewer or no third-party ad tags.

How we use your information

Operate the Service, authenticate users, attribute uploads and downloads, and display public profiles and pack listings.

Review uploads, enforce community guidelines, detect spam and abuse, apply bans, and maintain platform integrity.

Send service notifications about pack approvals, security events, policy updates, and account activity.

Process Packs+ subscriptions, grants, and storage quotas.

Improve search, recommendations, trending rankings, and site performance.

Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

How we share information

Public content: Pack listings, creator profiles, comments, and reviews you publish are visible to other users and may be indexed by search engines.

Service providers: We use infrastructure partners for hosting, object storage, CDN delivery, email, payment processing, AI inference, and security. These processors handle data only to operate the Service on our behalf.

Discord: Authentication and optional server membership features involve data exchange with Discord.

Legal and safety: We may disclose information when required by law, to protect users and the platform, or to investigate violations of our Terms.

We do not sell your personal information.

Data retention

Account and profile data are retained while your account is active.

Pack files and media remain stored until you delete them, your account is deleted, or we remove content for policy violations.

Security logs and audit records are retained for a limited period appropriate for investigation and compliance, then deleted or anonymized.

Backup copies may persist for a short period after deletion before being purged from rotation.

Account deletion

You may request deletion of your PackVault account from Dashboard → Security. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

When you delete your account, we remove or anonymize personal identifiers associated with your profile. Public pack content may be removed, reassigned, or archived at our discretion depending on community impact and licensing.

Active bans, fraud records, or legal holds may delay or limit deletion where permitted by law.

If you subscribed to Packs+, cancel your subscription before deletion to avoid further billing through your payment provider.

Children's privacy

PackVault is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal data and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

International users

PackVault may process and store data in countries other than your own. By using the Service, you consent to transfer and processing in those locations, subject to applicable safeguards.

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or export personal data, and to object to certain processing. Contact us to exercise these rights.

Security

We implement technical and organizational measures including encrypted transport (HTTPS), access controls, rate limiting, session management, and monitoring. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as PackVault evolves. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
